"Does [industry] need to be stimulated on the backs of rural Albertans?" asked [Rural Municipalities of Alberta] president Paul McLauchlin. "That's the choice that's being made." #ABpoli #ABenergy cbc.ca/news/canada/ed…

"The Alberta Energy Regulator has sent a clear message to companies around the world- come here and dump all of you toxic waste in our drinking water." Seems the AER's penalties levied against Imperial and its Kearl site might not be sufficient, according to the First Nation.

Large oil spill from a pipeline near Lethbridge on Sunday. Usually the AER dashboard seriously underestimates spill sizes, so the high reported volume is an oddity.

This post summarizes the most recent developments in the efforts of Australian miners to obtain new exploration permits for the Grassy Mountain coal project. While the AER has set the matter down for a hearing, the Court of Appeal recently gave permission to appeal that decision.

Canadians certainly want to know what credible steps Big Oil has taken to reduce emission. The truth is in the numbers - and the numbers show BIg Oil continues to increase output and emissions. Like Big Tobacco they pump millions into false claims while we choke. Not anymore.

I expected the AER to fix the press release after the problem was pointed out to them, and I am surprised they have not done so.

Drew and I disagree on this one. I think that the misstatement was most likely deliberate. I think that Drew believes that it was simple incompetence on the part of the AER comms department. Neither interpretation is good for the AER.

Authorities in central Greece said on Thursday that they had dredged more than 100 tons of dead fish from the waters around the port of Volos, a scenic summer destination. The mass deaths of the fish were most likely caused by climate change. nyti.ms/4dTZLQu

CBC investigation shows the Hamilton ArcelorMittalDofasco DRI EAF conversion is way behind schedule, & *nothing physical* has started. Delays are normal with big projects, but site clearing & old coke plant demolition is relatively cheap 🧐Jonas Algers cbc.ca/news/canada/ha…

The earliest English 'wildlife laws' were primarily about limiting the hunting of wildlife to only feudal lords, with no concern for wildlife except species that were hunted. Alberta is still basically in this stage.

I filed a freedom of information complaint to the office of the information commissioner in October 2023 that is set for completion in April 2025. Currently 18 months of delay, or more, at the OIPC level.
