Seeing something in action is always the best learning experience! Thank you, @MPerdomo_KeyES and Srta. Bermúdez for letting our DLI principals and central office administrators visit Escuela Key and see how powerful dual language immersion is in person! PWCS Lynmara Colón, PhD

We cannot normalize being a monolingual country in a multilingual world. That closes doors for our students. That’s why we are investing in multilingualism and in turn, investing in our future.

In school, I felt different for being Latino. A lot of my teachers would call me "Michael" instead of Miguel and I was too shy to correct them. I want students who currently feel this way to know what I know now, that being multicultural is a strength, not a weakness.

Escuela Key Elementary @MPerdomo_KeyES KeyPTA Srta. Bermúdez 80/20 immersion model promotes high academic achievement and encourages students’ biliteracy. Kindergarten students reading loud to Pre-k students in Spanish. Go abejitas.

I will never get tired of saying this - Bilingualism is a superpower. Biculturalism is a superpower. And biliteracy is a superpower! That’s why we are investing in multilingualism in schools.

This #HispanicHeritageMonth we are celebrating the Latino students, teachers, staff, and families across the U.S. who are strengthening our schools every day. ¡Muchísimas gracias! #HHM
