"Possibly the reason that it’s so hard to persuade GPs to increase their sessions is that many of them are already working full time, albeit over three days." Dr Helen Salisbury on the reality of GPs' working hours bmj.com/content/386/bm…

GP - BIG IS NOT ALWAYS BEAUTIFUL This is a reminder to Wes Streeting MP Stephen Kinnock that in General Practice smaller practices often provide better support & continuity of care for patients Don’t listen to Tony Blair or Lord Darzi if they tell you otherwise

The misbegotten belief that common conditions can be treated commonly, ignores the substantial risk that common conditions can often mask, or even erupt, into uncommon conditions with exceptional consequences This report demands an excellent response but…..don’t hold yer breath

I have done over 150,000 consultations with patients, trained over 60 GPs & many more medical students There are very few simple, common, straightforward consultations 10 years of training & 30 years of experience has taught me that everyone & every presentation is different

GP partners were forced to make the ‘devastating’ decision to hand back the contract for their practice, due to 10yrs of financial cuts ICB has decided to award the contract to Malling Health, after a ‘robust procurement process’ Could have just funded GPs pulsetoday.co.uk/news/practice-…

NHS winter ready? Last winter NHSE trumpeted the additional 5000 permanent hospital beds promised in January 2023 As we head into this winter the NHS England board nod along that those beds are locked in for the coming year I might be missing something but the beds aren’t there

What a kick in the teeth to these local GPs who tried their best to keep the practice going, had to throw in the towel only to see their local commissioners hand the contract over with a huge uplift of funding. Wonder if Wes Streeting MP is aware… pulsetoday.co.uk/news/practice-…

NHS England has cut £35 per patient per year from GP practices over the last 8 years in real terms cuts The Partners weren’t asking for this but the new practice will cost £40 more per patient per year You can’t make it up unless you are NHS England when you can

The ICB couldn't support the existing local GPs, however they have managed to find another £40/patient for a private provider to do the work instead. That is a massive uplift! Massive. Wes Streeting MP please do take a look at what is happening up and down the country.

No money to fund traditional partner run GP practices that appear to be clinically well run... But suddenly PCN can afford a 22% per patient funding uplift to hand over contract to company whose board identify "poor quality patient care and clinical negligence" as a key risk. 🤡
