Quite the day yesterday in SW Michigan. Particularly in Portage, Colon and Sherwood. Early watches, warnings and emergency preparedness and response made a difference. NWS Grand Rapids

Both MDHHS and CDC issued news releases on H5 bird flu in a Michigan dairy worker. Like the previous Texas case, the person had conjunctivitis. The case was detected because of active public health surveillance with local and state public health working with dairy farms.

This case was detected again bc of Michigan local and state public health collaboration and farm partnerships. The fact respiratory symptoms were identified and prompted testing catches my attention.
