Great FT story on China's use of "non-aligned 3rd countries" like Singapore, Vietnam, Hungary to skirt tariffs, controls, & scrutiny. Happy to have contributed a small bit on a Chinese mining co's attempt to covertly take over an Aussie rare earth miner ft.com/content/5583db…

In very warm areas, the wet bulb temperature is a good measure of extreme heat stress. In India, prior to 1990 there was little to no dark blue on this map, now nearly 15% of India is covered by dark blue.

The power, wealth, and sheer scale of humanity have exploded so rapidly in the past 70 years or so, it's funny that any of us think that we have any idea what's going to happen next.

At $0.095/W and 400W panels, that's $38/panel. Panels are 20 sq ft, so under $2/sq ft. Cheaper than many building materials: tile, wood flooring, windows, roofing shingles, dimensional lumber. I have been anti-BIPV for yrs. Now I say - just build everything out of solar panels.

I genuinely don't think i've ever seen the monsoon trough oriented so far north before. Its incredible to witness this much moisture focused over the Sahara. Something is wrong here, and I'm not entirely sure the cause. #Tropics #wxtwitter

After making landfall in #Hainan #China, #Yagi has re-emerged over warm water- the #GulfofTonkin. As a result, it's expected to intensify again before landfall in #Vietnam near #HaiPhong (>2 million population). No >=cat 3 #typhoons have made landfall within 80 miles of Hai Phong

Congrats to Texas, which now has more solar power capacity installed than California -- the most of any state. Hippies! cleanpower.org/resources/quar…

It's currently 116°F (46.7°C) in Beverly Hills. Last night, the minimum temperature in the hills of Malibu was 96°F (35.6°C). An incredibly intense heatwave for Southern California.
