Why does the Biden administration support the Israeli genocide and war crimes even in the face of virtually universal condemnation, at massive expense, and to the point of totally debasing the rules-based international order? Why do it? People fall back on narratives about the

I've seen many updates on YETI - posts requesting unpaid internships. Refusing to pay youth eager to find a footing in the field they are passionate about is simply pathetic. Stop with the altruistic spin to conservation/science jobs - you are just capitalising on enthu aspirers

In July, nature published a paper saying polymetallic nodules (the critical mineral lumps sought by deep sea miners) produce oxygen on the sea floor. Out now, this CarbonCopy report on why the discovery should result in a ban on deep sea mining. carboncopy.info/deep-sea-minin….

For a country already facing immense human-wildlife interactions, with locals & wild animals paying very dearly, introducing cheetah was always going to lead to more interaction. Expecting coexistence to soothe one man's ego ain't going to change ground reality.

August alone saw 24 #elephant deaths - most from electrocution, others include natural deaths too. But did you know 20 people died, several others severely injured & over 15 incidents of crop/home damage from interactions? Let's not forget who pays the price for this coexistence

Many urban folks who glorify the need for locals near forests to coexist (many even think greed plays a role in this new found disenchantment among locals) would also be the ones vouching for capture of wild life near cities. They don't feel safe even in their massive apts!

It's tiresome to see science telling us whales, chimps, elephants can now make music, count, name eachother & reduce exciting findings to a biased historical comparison: animals are more like us! Eh, but we are animals, not exclusionary/superior. Stop setting us apart from nature

Well, the same Madhav Gadgil called 1km ESZ around forests ‘unjust and impractical’. He also proposed legalisation of hunting wild animals in human-dominated areas, and said: let wild animals be "confined" to national parks. Variable, scientific much, eh?

With elephants being witnessed in newer landscapes, it's even more critical for the media to offer a more responsible & balanced narrative - spreading fear or name-calling have negative impacts, explains Aniruddha HD 👇🏾

For the tribes in Andaman, Sri Vijaya Puram is also a colonial/alien name. Displacement, dispossession they continue to face, under this govt - a loss of their culture, land & livelihood. They are reduced to serving aspirations of others' ideas of development!

Most democratic countries have mastered the art of forging extreme nationalism - where appetite for freedom is kept alive among the favouring, domesticated, state-administered lives. All are free is true but for a few: a notion necessitated yet made acceptable & alluring to all
