Every single week I bore myself and everyone else with this shout but it literally transforms the team having McNeil in the middle. Absolutely missed a trick not playing him there this season. He can keep it, he can pick a pass and most importantly, he can do that.
Just to enhance my crusade to get McNeil playing centrally, it was his shot that led to the corner for the second goal
Doucoure played it to Harrison on the right and McNeil drifted inside. He asked for the ball, he got it and he hit it.
McNeil in the middle makes things happen
Dwight McNeil making a decisive pass from the centre of the park again. His best and most effective place on the pitch.
Banged the drum all season that he’s needed to play in the hole behind the centre forward.
I won’t mention it again until August.
Villa (A) 🔵⚽️
14 years ago I was pitchside for Sky Sports’ ‘Take It Like A Fan’ in front of the Everton away end.
Had to guess the clubs celebrities supported. Won £110 which was like a Lottery win for a skint student!
Then Luke Young put one in the top corner…
Ashley Young in the new third strip back-chatting the referee as he walks backwards into position for Aston Villa's free-kick after he gave away a needless foul out wide is already so clear in my mind half an hour before it's even kicked off.
Everton spent £17m on Jake O'Brien. He isn't playing ahead of a CB who time and again isn't upto it. If the manager doesn't fancy him, he shouldn't have been bought.
By delaying his game-time you're actually adding pressure. Put him straight in and he gets going. Maddening.
Remember every week last season when I said Dwight McNeil should play centrally? That is exactly why.
He has the skill and technical ability to make things happen when playing between the posts.
Great goal and top assist last game too. By far his best position. Wasted out wide.

Dwight McNeil is an excellent player, always really liked him me.
I think any criticism that comes his way is simply because he’s so laid back and it can give the wrong impression when losing.
I’m really glad to have him. He makes things happen.
Iliman Ndiaye is going to transform Everton going forward but his defensive work is so impressive too.
Always getting back and helping out, putting his foot in where he can and snuffing out attacks.
Reminds me of Richarlison and Pienaar in that regard. Vital for the team.
Pathetic by Keane and yet again a goal created out wide. The team doesn’t need to feature these weaknesses. It’s totally avoidable.
We had a two-goal lead and Villa have scored as a direct result of the clear issues in the side.
Everton didn’t fix the full-back issue in the summer and the manager hasn’t made the right selections either.
And this is why the club don’t win games or trophies. Clear deficiencies that are left to fester for years and years, stifling any progress.
I said at the start of the season the left-back position was more of a worry than right-back.
There is just nobody there after Mykolenko. Really poor recruitment for that position. You need a specialist in there and there are hundreds in football who could perform there.
Michael Keane has never been good enough and still he’s in the team. Argh.
Why do we gift teams when we have a £17m centre-back there on the bench. It’s such damaging thinking persevering with football personnel that aren’t up to it for season upon season.
