An overwhelming vote for BBNJ in the United Nations today. The General Assembly voted 164-2 to approve the resolution to establish a preparatory commission to prepare for entry into force of the BBNJ Agreement. And spoiler amendments similarly - only gained 5 or 6 votes.

Tomorrow, the UN General Assembly #UNGA will vote on establishing a Preparatory Committee for the #BBNJ #HighSeasTreaty . A PrepCom is key for the Treaty to be operational as soon as possible after its entry into force.
