Today at #ISA29 , DSCC & Greenpeace International expressed concerns with the ISA arguing against the ability of #OSPAR to take steps under its own mandate to protect species & habitats from #DeepSeaMining within its area. We saw the same issue with the Convention on Migratory Species.
On the ISA floor, Duncan Currie reflected on a Planet Tracker report that highlights that trying to restore deep-sea ecosystems impacted by #DeepSeaMining would cost trillions💸, and no country or contractor could pay for it.
We need a moratorium.
