My editor Gar (RIP) had me interview a vocal coach who found a new way to open up vocal cords, by using a high-end vibrator (on the throat).

Weeks after the story ran the vibrator company, totally unsolicited, sent a box of 12 vibrators to me in the newsroom.

The dismantling of the Kensington encampments was done an hour earlier than was announced and was led by police and sanitation workers and not by outreach workers, as the city said it would be.

Today I bring you the tale of an 8-foot tall, 6-foot long, 250-pound fiberglass cowboy boot on Washington Avenue in Philly's Italian Market and the story of the man who put it there, Alfonso Aramburo, owner of Viejo Oeste #2 Western Wear.

My heart breaks today for my colleagues who've been laid off. They've given so much and deserve so much better.

Every layoff, every time, makes it harder to imagine a future in journalism.

When anyone asks me what Delco is, I’m just gonna show them this picture of a convertible hearse that someone drove to a children’s baseball game last weekend.

I've delt with a few variations of the Mayor's Press Office in my 17 years here but I've never seen one just routinely ignore media requests or try and dictate media coverage to this degree before.

The names of the lines of this Delco cutlery are killing me:

Delco Heavy Dominion sounds like a death metal band

Delco Heavy Windsor is only used by people in fancy Delco (aka Swarthmore, Glen Mills, etc)

Delco 18/0 sounds like how Delco people rate themselves on dating apps

The way I gasped when I looked down and saw the name on my cutlery at a restaurant at Boston Logan International Airport.

Stephanie Farr is 100% right in this column! The only thing I would say is that we need more than one designated car free area. inquirer.com/columnists/phi…

We ran into a Founding Fathers-themed bachelorette party at the Union Oyster House in Boston.

Later, we went into a bar we had no idea we were too old for. Bouncer asked: “Why are you here?” Us: “Um, to drink.” Inside, they were setting off confetti poppers with tiny Benjamins.

I went to Boston for the first time & I’m sorry to report it wasn’t terrible. In fact, I had a good time & I’m still salty about it.

Philly is still the GOAT (obvs) but we need our own Freedom Trail, more buskers & car-free zones here too as 2026 nears.

This is one of the lines we quote most in our house, along with “Now we see the violence inherent in the system!” 😭
