This week we've had our level 5 students, and our level 6 crops and machinery students doing fantastic work ploughing and sowing winter barley! They planted Valerie winter barley, sowed at 140kg/ha.
We also must thank Farmhand for the use of their 5 furrow Cayros plough💪

Yesterday our students participated in a Student Animal Health Day. Speakers from @Teagasc and the Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine gave talks on key topics including Tuberculosis (TB), Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Lameness and Anti-Parasitic Resistance (APR)

Today as part of #AgMentalHealthWeek we did a mile-walk to reflect on the importance of making time for ourselves.
We also invited Bill Gleeson, ex-student and part of Make the Moove, to talk about his experiences with mental health. A huge thanks to Bill for joining us!

Gurteen College beef bulls enjoying a beautiful autumn morning

Our replacement ewe lambs grazing in what's left of the good weather!
They were shorn in August to increase size and body frame and will be let to the ram in late October to lamb in the end of march.
