Thanks to Gov. Rosanna Costa and Banco Central de Chile Board for hosting me. We discussed 🇨🇱 Chile's effective monetary policy tackling inflation amid external volatility as well as growth opportunities from the global green transition.

Senior leaders from the United Nations are gathering this week here in Chile. It is the first time this meeting is taking place in Latin America.

Wonderful to meet journalists participating in an IMF-sponsored & Thomson Reuters Foundation facilitated media training in Santiago, Chile on the eve of #WorldPressFreedomDay . We discussed issues facing their countries and how the IMF can help.

Great meeting with Chile’s Ministerio de Hacienda Mario Marcel Cullell. We discussed growth opportunities, in particular Chile’s role in the global green transition. I commend Chile’s ambitious reform agenda and commitment to fiscal sustainability.

The European Union is a strategic partner of the IMF in areas such as capacity development and concessional financing. Today, I met with EU International Partnerships 🇪🇺 Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen to continue our close dialogue and thank the EU for its strong support for the most vulnerable.

Great, as always, to see commissioner Johannes Hahn. We discussed outcomes from yesterday’s EU budget conference. The EU budget can play a vital role in supporting European cohesion to tackle the green transition and other pressing regional and global challenges.

Nice meeting Commissioner Iliana Ivanova in Brussels today. We discussed how fostering innovation and increasing R&D spending is key to lifting productivity growth in Europe.

As #Belgium holds the 🇪🇺 EU Presidency, great discussion today with Banque nationale de Belgique Governor Pierre Wunsch on economic challenges and priorities for Europe: productivity and growth, capital market union and the green transition. A confident and relevant Europe is good for the world.

Very pleased to meet again with 🇲🇩 Moldovan President Maia Sandu on the sidelines of the Annual EU Budget Conference in Brussels. We discussed how Moldova’s IMF-supported programs are continuing to assist its reform efforts, amid challenging circumstances.

The world needs a cohesive Europe to show how much we can gain by working together. The #EUBudget sits at the heart of European cohesion: crucial in the years ahead to use it well as we take on shared challenges like the green transition & energy security.
