During the restoration of 'The Bedroom', cracks and paint flakes revealed damage caused during Vincent’s lifetime. Vincent wrote that he had wrapped the painting in newspaper due to flaking. Microscopic examination confirmed this: traces of newsprint were found in the paint.

The ancient church of Llanfaglan on the Menai Straits and in the of shadow of Snowdon mountain range.
