South Devon. Dappled sunlight through the tunnel of trees with bluebells in the hedgerows. A country walk on Friday.

It wasn't until the Baedecker Raids that Exeter was hit.
4/5/1942 over 10,000 incendiary & 170 high explosive bombs fell. The cathedral was hit on the chapel of St James completely demolishing it.
156 killed, over 550 injured, many left affected physically & mentally for life.

It’s not very seasonal to be talking turkey in May but I was reminded of William Strickland when I saw his coat of arms at St Mary’s Deerhurst, yesterday.

Read about him here

I’m Rosemary and I spend a lot of time in the 16th century.

I research, I write, and I bring history to life for groups all over the West Country, love gardening, needlework, visiting old buildings and live in beautiful Devon.
