We don’t know for certain who she is, possibly one of the Everard family, but someone had put a spray of flowers into her hands when I visited St George’s, Dunster, Somerset a couple of weeks ago

#onthisday 4th May 1471 Battle of Tewkesbury, a decisive victory for Edward IV and the House of York over Lancastrian forces. Margaret of Anjou taken prisoner, Henry VI died soon after in the Tower and Edward Prince of Wales killed on battlefield. His plaque in Tewkesbury Abbey.

Ready for picking, an embroidered strawberry from a 17th century pincushion Royal Albert Memorial Museum, Exeter Pear, pomegranate, rose and strawberry were all symbolic fruits and flowers. Pattern page from Richard Shorlyeker's A Scholehouse for the Needle at TRC Leiden. The strawberry looks v similar.
