That was written for #EconTwitter. Most (not all) Western academics think of SC as one caste & refer to jatis as subcastes. Indian academics follow suit. SC is a caste group, more appropriately a list of jatis (castes) characterised by considerable inter-caste heterogeneity.

Economist Ashwini_Deshpande s research shows that for India's FLPR (female labour force participation rate) to improve, we need more jobs. That said, removing infra hurdles like lack of childcare, safe commutes will no doubt help women, she says

#mumbai #memories A beautiful exhibition to celebrate Krishen Khanna’s legacy as he turns 100. Tapestries, painting, sculptures. His bandwallah collection is absolutely gorgeous!

A friend wrote on my FB page with a great suggestion IndiGo. Create black (instead of the pink, ugh😒) seats. Misbehaving men can be reassigned to those, or they can choose voluntarily. I will add: make that the last row, so that they exit last/at leisure. Win-win.

The Chitale Bandhu ad provides a warm glow, especially to Punekars/ Maharashtrians. But I completely agree with Ramu Ramanathan: this twist would have been unexpected and fabulous. A cricket legend meets a theatre great, both bond over their shared love for Chitale bakarwadi.

Such a charming episode! Had heard ashabhosle’s stories earlier but absolutely loved listening again. How Kishore Kumar recorded intaha ho gayi lying down & Asha practicing breathing for aaja aaja led her driver to believe she had breathing trouble 😂 Happy 91st, Ashatai 🎉🌹💐
