Kids asked this morning why the state of Texas stopped the free school lunches they received through 2023. I didn't get any money back from the state, which obviously canceled the program to save money from all those freeloading (🤨) kids, so ... where's the money?

Remind me to print out a bunch of “idling is banned” signs the next time I leave the house. Sure, they’ll be ignored, but maybe just one person will feel guilty and stop. #petpeeves #pollution

Summer Vacation 2024. Day 2. (yes, I know it's Saturday) Me to firstborn, after a 6-hour playdate with his best friend with soccer, pizza, laser tag, arcades, video games, & brownies: "Don't ask me about screentime the second we get home" Him: "When can I ask about screentime?"

As if traveling with kids wasn’t already difficult enough, airlines outsourcing kid-entertainment to parents is really the cherry on top. Did you get the right apps? Do they work offline? What about battery life? Am I stuck in a race to make parenting more exhausting?

A fun part about raising third-culture kids is that our Spotify playlists might start with Bollywood, have a bit of Eurovision in the middle, and end with a flourish of Rhinestone Cowboy.

7 weeks of summer break down…. And what feels like infinity weeks left to go.

8-yo has discovered Michael Jackson, the Beatles, Bill Withers, Weird Al Yankovic, and is still going strong with the Eurovision top 10. I don't need #spotifyai (also, it's annoying as all get-out), just my kid with my phone to keep us all entertained.

Currently hanging with only 2 of my 3 kids and it is incredible how much more relaxed they are/I am vs when alone with all 3.

Not a great pic- but the TX design of strip malls across stroads would be so much better with pedestrian bridges to make crossing pleasant/easier. Make crossing easier-people spend more time shopping- everyone wins. Feels like a no-brainer

Closing out 10 days of solo parenting 3 boys and there is NO way I would have survived without many extra hands. Playdates, in-laws to drive (overlapping activities, so fun!), babysitters, daycare/camps, and more. This phase of life is exhausting & I'm thankful I'm not alone.

North Lamar is such a treasure. From $6 boxes of mango at the Asian grocery store, to a fresh watermelon aguas fresca a bit further up, there are so many good choices! Now if we could just do something about the lack of shade, narrow sidewalks, and choppy bike lanes…

Scheduling afternoon meetings with the current state of the AISD bus schedule is a wild ride. 4:30? Not sure if I'll be waiting for bus then, so...maybe? 5:30? Might be waiting for the same bus then! I'll just go ahead & block my calendar off from 4 pm daily until further notice?

Health insurance is so wild here, with scheduling delays + insurance only willing to pay once every 12 months, I went from having my mammogram the day AFTER my birthday to the earliest possible date I could schedule it 3 months after my birthday - in only 3 years. #getchecked

Weekend parenting is just a series of cooking for kids and cleaning up the kitchen, isn’t it? All day long.
