The Jamshoro coal plant, funded by $900M from ADB, has polluted freshwater, devastated local livelihoods, and made agricultural land unusable. As we unite this September to fight fossil fuels, we call on ADB to divest from coal and invest in renewable energy. #EndFossilFuels

It is deeply disappointing that in an era of existential crisis caused by fossil fuels, Asian Development Bank has chosen to fund and endorse coal-run thermal power plants in one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world.

We urge Asian Development Bank to act in a responsible manner and immediately retire the Jamshoro coal plant, as well as divesting from all current and future fossil fuel powered projects. A thorough review of all current and future portfolio projects in Pakistan is also necessary.

Residents of Jamshoro and Hyderabad in a brilliant display of courage, conviction, and responsibility, have come together to march against the egregious destruction caused by Asian Development Bank to their environment and local ecologies.
