We Remember: Sgt. James H. Harris, Battle of New Market Heights Medal of Honor, Co. B, 38th USCI; born 1828, died Jan. 28, 1898. The 36-year-old Sgt. Harris's bravery stood out in the battle receiving recognition for displaying “gallantry in the assault.” #usct #MedalofHonor

We remember! One of the men who fought was Pvt. William Empson, Co. I, 6th USCI, from New Castle County, DE. He received an abdomen wound in the fight that resulted in this death on October 2, 1864. He rests in peace in Hampton National Cemetery. We remember! #usct

Remembering Medal of Honor recipient 1st Sgt. Alexander Kelly, 6th USCI, born OTD 1840. He, "gallantly seized the [national] colors, which had fallen near the enemy's lines of abatis, raised them and rallied the men at a time of confusion and in a place of the greatest danger."
