Remembering Buddy Holly. Born this day in 1936 in Lubbock,Texas. American singer songwriter who was a central and pioneering figure of 50’s rock n roll. Hugely influential on music that followed his untimely death. He died in a plane crash in 1959, only 22 #BuddyHolly

Remembering Warren Zevon. Passed away this day in 2003. American singer songwriter and musician. As well as his wonderful solo career and his early work as a session musician, he also wrote songs that became hits for other artists. Sadly missed #WarrenZevon πŸ₯€ 🎹

Bolton back street - Roger Hampson. I loved summer in the streets. The red brick absorbed sunlight before slowly radiating heat. Back streets, and yards were sun traps. Wooden guttering creaked. Tar melted between the cobblestones, and scruffy sparrows took dust baths....

In the end I think there's an inherent loneliness to being a painter. One feels the need to stand back and observe. To memorise and record rather than partake. To remain unavoidably remote, in order to witness the unfolding show. 😒
