Looking out for birds on migration is a great way to feel connected to the wider world. These Wheatears are on their way to Africa, the Lapwings may have flown hundreds of miles to winter in Shropshire. The records will be added to BirdTrack to help us know just a little more.

It was great to be part of the Regional Network meeting at BTO HQ on Saturday! Our BBS Regional Organisers do a fantastic job coordinating the survey on a local level across the UK, so it was very useful for David W from the BBS Team to put a few more names to faces so to speak!

A glorious afternoon in the Shire #Shropshire 🔆

It's #PloverAppreciationDay so today, we are celebrating the two species of plover that we can currently produce Breeding Bird Survey population trends for in the UK, Golden Plover and Lapwing! Both species are very charismatic, and it is always a treat to see them.

It's not the best picture in the world, but I love to be able to identify birds in the garden over the internet through a security camera. 7HP was ringed in Dec 2023 and seen 25 times since then. BTO #BirdRinging
