Our research CBCH finds that 1 in 4 patients who survive acute cardiovascular events (including #SAH) are so distressed that they screen positive for #PTSD.

Imagine the suffering that this scientific advance could alleviate. I hope that our work CBCH can soon be translated into interventions with such clear impact.

Welcome to Twitter, @ShechterAri! Ari is an outstanding, early-midcareer CBCH scientist, & PI of a NIH NHLBI R01 on sleep and CVD risk in #stroke survivors.

Driven by “insurmountable” love for her grandparents, who “engaged in unhealthy lifestyle habits,” Andrea Duran (Ph.D. ’19) is focused on developing secondary prevention strategies to combat recurrence of heart attacks. #TCAlumni tc.columbia.edu/articles/2019/…

Long bouts of brooding about the past or fretting about the future can make us feel more stressed, which can lead to higher blood pressure, says a new study from CBCH funded by NIH NHLBI doi.org/10.1097/PSY.00… @connectAPS #cardiovascular

Great to see our work highlighted! In a community sample lesbian women had worse CV health than heterosexual peer, unexplained by trauma/discrimination & CV risks. More work to follow. Thanks to my co-authors & mentors @CU_Nursing TondaHughes Don Edmondson, PhD, MPH

Huge congratulations to Ian Kronish and CBCH for being awarded the NIH #NIA Columbia Roybal Center for Fearless Behavior Change. It will support early phase pilot RCTs targeting fear-based mechanisms of behavior change. SOBC

For years, Ian Kronish has pushed our team CBCH to develop interventions to address these common reactions, and now he is building the infrastructure to develop and optimize interventions using the SOBC experimental medicine approach.

. CBCH has been very successful at recruiting and retaining junior scientists who later got R01s—thanks to this mechanism. In fact, I’ve never heard of a diversity supplement NOT being funded. Diversity improves research, and NIH puts $$ behind diversity goals.

Absolutely crucial. There are a number of formal and informal “centers” made solely of researchers on soft money, who band together to do great collaborative research and reduce each individual’s downside risk. CBCH is a great example.

We are incredibly proud that Nathalie Moise MD MS —our colleague, and the Director of the Implementation Science lab at CBCH—has been named an Irving Scholar. Her work and leadership have garnered well-deserved attention. This is a great cap to a big year!
