Very happy to work on this project with the wonderful colleagues who have mentored me and believe in my ability to do science!🥳new job title -> NERC IRF fellow School of GeoSciences @ University of Edinburgh Edinburgh Glaciology ukri.org/news/early-car…
The #SCAR2024 Open Science Conference kicked off in Pucón, Chile, yesterday🇨🇱 Several CryoExchange members will be presenting over the course of the week 🇦🇶❄️ Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR)
CryoExchange members Pete, Carla & Hannah are currently enjoying teaching some glacial geomorphology to School of GeoSciences @ University of Edinburgh students at Cwm Idwal! ⛰️🧊
Clara Nyqvist (School of GeoSciences @ University of Edinburgh) presented some of her early PhD research connecting two ice cores in East Antarctica using radio-echo sounding data🧊 #SCAR2024 Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR)
Prof. Robert Bingham presented the newly submitted AntArchitecture (Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR)) review paper #SCAR2024
Harry Davis (School of GeoSciences @ University of Edinburgh) presented the early stages of his PhD research, mapping and dating the internal structure of Ferrigno Ice Stream #SCAR2024 Harry Davis Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR)
Several members attended the AntArchitecture (Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR)) workshop hosted at the Centro de Estudios Científicos (CECS), Valdivia, Chile. It was a very fruitful meeting, and great to collaborate with the radioglaciology community in Chile🇨🇱🇦🇶🧊
An increased amount of thick sea ice flowing south from the Arctic Ocean shortened the ice-free shipping season in several parts of the Northwest Passage between 2007 and 2021, according to an analysis in Communications Earth & Environment. Alison Cook and colleagues suggest this could mean
PhD student Emma Cameron from StAndrews Glaciology presenting some exciting work on Greenland’s fjords at #IGSBB24 Int. Glaciol. Soc. 🇬🇱 🧊
Day 2 of #IGSBB24 saw more exciting presentations from CryoExchange members ❄️🧊 Int. Glaciol. Soc.
Congratulations to Tryggvi Unnsteinsson who received an award for best poster at #IGSBB24 🌋🧊 IGS British Branch Meeting 2024
Team photo from our 2022 expedition to Tierra del Fuego, Chile. Our first paper is now published in QSR. We discuss the breakup of the former Patagonian Ice Sheet and evidence for glacial lake formation and drainage. Carla Huynh Edinburgh Glaciology eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%…
