Have received DMs checking on my mood as they have read this as sarcastic and I could not be more serious. I would not donate my kidney for a new dietitian, but definitely some platelets or bone marrow or mountains of "do as I say, not as I do" unhealthy snacks. Please apply.

This is an enormously disappointing letter to read. If AoMRC are not interested in listening to the voices of the doctors they are responsible for training, what exactly is their point?

Female surgeon here. I absolutely detest the stereotype of the supposedly technically brilliant male surgeon with poor bedside manner/communication skills. Ppl deserve BOTH and the research shows if you don’t have both, you don’t perform well.

Payday for us tomorrow. One of our new FY1s has had an issue with their pay. Medical staffing contacted them first thing to them know of the issue and are sorting a BACS payment for tomorrow. All others have payslips as expected. Good work UHNM NHS Trust 🏥

To counter my previous positivity, if I hear one more policy statement about the wonder of AI in healthcare whilst we wrestle with both a climate emergency and our barely-functioning IT system, I will say several very bad words that should probably not be used around sick kids.

Kindly invited to teach West Midlands Paediatrics residents earlier. They're instructed to attend in person regardless of where in this massive region they live. It's OK, I can join virtually, as my time is important. Cohort feedback when I was ST8 begged for hybrid model. Politely declined.

Booked a Eurostar trip to Paris earlier. Subjects of emails received from Eurostar in the last hour: "Psstt... Have you forgotten something? 👀" "Make the most of your trip to London!" This is not aiding my attempt at a relaxing weekend.

2 things can be simultaneously true: Allowing multiple attempts at an exam that charges an entrance fee indirectly discriminates against WP candidates. Using MSRA to select for most specialties is disrespectfully lazy. We don't use it for paeds ST1 selection. Ditch it.

A brief 🧵 about Brexit denialism currently suffocating the country. 1/19 As a psychologist, I am all too aware that, when faced with emotionally challenging issues and threats, facing them can be very scary and the temptation is to avoid. Can entire nations act similarly? Yes.

My solution I’ve posted multiple times. We MUST recognise that PAs have been missold their roles and their course. It’s not their fault. The solution has to cater for them, for us, and for patients. Abolish the role. Freeze pay to band 7 and make the r&r a doctors assistant

As many have very correctly said, this is a tremendous article. Phil Whitaker has done an excellent job summarising the concerns of the profession. Share it with your patients and your friends and your families and your neighbours.

Spent 6 hours last night liaising with 13 doctors across 5 different nationally commissioned services to get a critically unwell young person to the safest place for them. Managed it. This system is creaking under the pressure but it's bloody fantastic when it works.

⭐️Who should prescribe temazepam for hospital procedure?⭐️ A patient is anxious about a few upcoming hospital procedures. The surgeon writes a letter to the GP to prescribe temazepam. Generates GP consultation. Reasonable? What should happen?

What if, I dunno, we removed training bottlenecks preventing doctors training as the GPs we desperately need and funded primary care adequately to recruit them? NHS faces ‘tipping point’ in England where most appointments will not be with GPs theguardian.com/society/articl…

I just don't get this campaign. The scene of Shruti's tree being planted in the show is explicitly mocking how shallow a gesture it is. Everyone is rushed. Her team lie about her reasons for suicide. Everyone agrees nothing will change. But doing it in the real world... good?
