2. The new Norad agreement means that FORUT's partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America can increase their efforts to make children safe, secure basic human rights, and safeguard people's health by making sure that profit is NOT prioritised over public health in alcohol policy

3. No time to wait: This week will start implemetation of the new agreement teaming up with good and extremely talented colleagues in Zambia, Malawi and South Africa: #PassLiquorBillsNow, Young Women in Action, Norwegian Church Aid Malawi, Malawi Girl Guides Association

The existence of a Malawi alcohol policy alliance is a big step for Malawi and ALL those people that are suffering from harms caused by alcohol use in Malawi.

The launch of the Malawi SAAPA chapter is also a big step for Southern Africa, a region who is experiencing an epidemic of alcohol harm, but who noW sees yet another country, the 7th in line, forming a country chapter of the SAAPA in the region.

Finally; a big step globally when Malawi joins the global movement that says enough is enough; that refuses to see people's health and security sacrificed to satisfy a profit-driven alcohol industry. Numbers matter and a strong and united civil society can fight alcohol harm.
