Due to a power outage traffic lights are not functioning at the Robeson St and President Ave intersection or the Stanley St and Robeson St intersection. Please use caution and avoid this area if possible. Officers are on-scene but expect delays.

Officer Richard G. Magan was killed in the line of duty on August 11, 2000. Officer Magan died after falling off a ledge while responding to assist another officer. Today we honor his service to the City of Fall River.

Congratulations to Ofc Pereira who is being featured as a Servant Officer. LHLN offers police training to develop police officers who serve with the heart of a servant and the mind of a warrior. Ofc. Pereira is the second FRPD officer to be honored by LHLN.

On Tuesday, August 23, 1898, Police Officer Louis Gormley was accidentally shot and killed by a fellow officer while involved in a foot pursuit of a fugitive. Officer Gormley had served with the Fall River Police Department for six years.

Thirty years ago today, Officer Thomas Giunta was shot and killed as he was distributing parking permits for a community function. Officer Giunta was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of the Vietnam War and had served with the Fall River Police Department for 21 years.
