The fundamental purpose of punishment isn’t to address the bigger issue that we exist in a society and culture blah blah, it is DETERRENCE. Both SPECIFIC AND GENERAL. Incarcerate him so he can’t do it again (specific), incarcerate him so others will be scared of doing it(general)
