Just flipping through the latest forecasts for Texas power consumption from BNEF and it's frankly insane They project a 1% reserve margin by 2030 thanks to 39% growth in power demand 🤯 And what's driving that demand? 13 GW of Bitcoin mining 🤦‍♂️

A story about Texas using $5 billion in taxpayer for new natural gas plants ... and it's not pretty. Big old hat tip to Doug Lewin for reading the regulatory filings. 🧵

So.... imho as a newspaper the NYT *should* be talking to the pres of Project 2025 and the CEO of Occidental and the President of Guyana about climate--the issue is not that they are bringing these folks in, the issue is whether or not they will ask them the tough questions.

For a measly 1-2% increase in car price auto companies can manufacture cars with clean steel and aluminum not produced with dirty old coal This is a hugely powerful lever for cleaning up these global supply chains So can we get these companies to Lead the Charge ?
