This is a sobering read from Education Policy Institute - there are still huge gaps in attainment, exacerbated by child poverty, and an increasing urgency to tackle SEND particularly in the early years. We have made progress before in closing these gaps, but there is much still to do.
This is a great article by Leora Cruddas CBE on the evidence of what helps retain teachers in the profession. Accepting that some retention factors are outside our direct control, many of these things are though within our collective ability to shape and influence directly
