A1 I think talking can be so challenging for students because they are not aware of the different conversational structures to facilitate academic and problem solving conversations yet. Structures have to be taught and practiced. #teachpos

IT WORKS. Try it! Ask me or anyone else that has tried it! Every student in my class felt comfortable enough to get up in front of the class and speak only in Spanish after just 9 weeks of instruction!!! #teachpos

A2 As educators, we have to build community and relationships with our students to build trust. Promoting non-threatening talk means having conversations and just listening sometimes as well as providing opportunities to learn different conversational structures too. #teachpos

A3 Provide visual supports and/or sentence stems. Sometimes kids don't know what to say or how to go about conversations and need a little extra visual and/or support. #teachpos

A3 All teachers can be champions for literacy by empowering all students to read and highlighting strategies to support learning in their content areas. #buildhopeedu
