A huge thank you to my collaborators Daniel Swezey Dr. Sara E Boles, California Sea Grant for funding, and all the many volunteers who made this project possible. Excited to see what else these data have to tell us!

I'm late to #Crustmas. Here is little hermit #crab that recruited in my system as a larvae. Without access to a shell, it was clingy to the side of the bioreactor. Many thanks to Isabelle Neylan for the shells to pick from. Apparently, this one is just right. UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory

Have you ever seen an ultrasound of an #abalone? An #ultrasound transducer can be used to quickly and noninvasively detect when abalone are ready to spawn, minimizing handling and stress for the animal. Read more from UC Davis news: ucdavis.edu/climate/news/u… 1/3

“When I first saw the #ultrasound images of my kids, I saw the future of my family,” she said. “When I see the ultrasound images of these #abalone, I see the future of an entire species.” Dr. Dr. Kristin Aquilino in NYT Science

Read about the noninvasive ultrasound technology that's helping scientists determine when #abalone are ready to spawn in NYT Science, from a study in Frontiers - Marine Science by UC Davis researchers Dr. Sara E Boles, Isabelle Neylan, Jackson A Gross, & Laura Rogers-Bennett: nytimes.com/2022/02/28/sci…

Gratitude to UC Davis for highlighting recently published research led by Isabelle Neylan Dr. Sara E Boles and myself looking at the effects ocean acidification on abalone across generations. Cumulative stress from OA threatens these species and growers should take steps to mitigate.

After a lot of hard work, a lot of years, and so much help from co-authors, collaborators, and volunteers our work exploring the legacy effects of OA on red abalone is finally out!! Thanks to everyone who made this possible Daniel Swezey Dr. Sara E Boles California Sea Grant

Coming up at 10am in 519a: @i_neylan presents an ambitious (fully factorial!) experiment examining within vs. trans generational effects of thermal stress on thermal plasticity across two populations of Tigriopus copepods. isabelleneylan.com
