Today we joined NYC Jails Action Coalition (JAC), Jumaane Williams & other community leaders to call out the Mayor’s abuse of power, and demand he and DOC implement Local Law 42 NOW to end solitary confinement and utilize alternatives proven to reduce violence and better protect people’s health.

We joined Office of the Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams NYC Jails Action Coalition (JAC) & survivors of Rikers to demand the DOC follow the law and end the inhumane and indefensible practice of solitary confinement. Solitary is cruel, traumatic, and as of yesterday, illegal. There is no justification for its continued use in our jails.
