Photographs from a recent donation from a former employee at Sylvester Manufacturing Company in Lindsay, Ontario. The company was formed in 1876 and would close in 1972 after many ownership and name changes.

Digitizing some of Al Capon’s (editor of The Lindsay Post) negatives, we came across a photograph that depicts a scene that we are all longing for: hot summer days swimming and relaxing by a pool! Opening on June 23, 1950, this photo was taken in 1967.

Coming all the way from the Pym family in Australia is this little creamer pitcher by staff at the Pym’s Hotel, which was located at 84 Kent Street in Lindsay. The hotel was operated for only a short time during the early 1900s with brothers William and Charles Pym at the helm.

We love our community! Yesterday, we received six volumes of The Lindsay Daily Post from 1969, 1971, 1974, and 1975. These additional volumes help complete some of the years we are missing. Keep an eye on our website to view the digitized issues of the Lindsay Post.

Sometimes posters can more than one story, as does this Lindsay Bullfight poster advertising for the event in 1958. Not only does it advertise the event, but it also displays what a mess it was to organize and prepare for as evidenced by the blue marking over the date.

It may seem like fall outside with the chilly temperatures, but there are still a few weeks of summer left for you to enjoy! Here are some photographs of camps at Norland that the Rumney family of Coboconk set up for a small berry picking adventures in 1919 and 1922.

The Lindsay Fair starts this week, so why not highlight one of the most successful World's Fair in the 20th century: the Montreal Expo. Did anyone go to Expo 67? Lindsay Daily Post reporter Alan Capon was sent to cover the Montreal Expo of 1967.
