We are all so saddened to hear of the passing of one of Ireland’s finest writers, a “fearless teller of truths”, who made London her home. Her portrait, painted so beautifully by Colin Davidson , hangs proudly in our Embassy, and her work and courage will continue to inspire.

We mourn the loss of Edna O'Brien (1930-2024), a luminary in Irish literature and our treasured Patron since 1995. Her fearless storytelling challenged taboos and captured Irish women’s experiences, inspiring so many readers and writers. A powerful legacy. May she rest in peace🕊️

Regular listeners will know that my monthly radio show on Portobello Radio is at 10am on the 1st Sunday of every month. Unfortunately, due to circumstances, we’ve had to postpone this month’s show by a week. It will be transmitted at 10am next Sunday Sept 8th. It’ll be worth it!

I don't know who is going to do the heavy lifting on this next question, but I'm quite convinced Dunlaoghaire County Council is populated by apes, and as you can see from this monstrosity, not very intelligent apes. This is the architectural equivalent of doing a shit on your
