An enjoyable few days, getting out of the office to survey spined loach populations in the Moreton's Leam drain, near Peterborough. The highlight being a haul of 33 from one trawl conducted in the only shallow gravelly bay we could find. #fishsurveys #spinedloach #Cobitistaenia

Enjoyable few days in Northumberland surveying fish populations within various small streams across the Tyne and Wear catchments. Lots of brown trout, bullhead, stone loach and even some brook lamprey caught. Looking forward to returning next week. #electricfishing #fishsurveys

More fish surveys today this time at the Farlington Marshes Nature Reserve assisting with Seine netting several saline lagoons. Interestingly an absence of fish in one and multiple year classes of stickleback in another despite them being subject to the same management regime 🤔
