✨We so enjoyed Sonia St John’s talk about Margaret Beauchamp last Sunday where we were treated to a surprise unveiling! Swindon artist Billy Beaumont painted this fabulous portrait of Margaret inspired by her image on the polyptych in St Mary’s church. Thank you Sonia & Billy✨

❄️Here we see Lydiard's ice house. ❄️A highly desirable component of any grand 18th century park providing wealthy landowning gentry with a private supply of ice. The quality of the brickwork is particularly fine enhancing its efficiency. Lydiard Park Lydiard House Museum Elizabeth St.John

🦃Our Lydiard House Turkey🦃In the early C17th turkeys were enjoyed at Christmas for those who could afford them. The first turkey was brought to England by William Strickland in 1526 and it's said King Henry VIII popularised the bird when substituting Christmas goose for turkey.
