“Hi, today’s my first time taking care of this patient, so I’m not sure. Let me check the chart and talk to them, and I can circle back with you to address your question/concern” Covering is a reality, but is that so hard?

Can someone explain why you need a letter of medical necessity for a pediatric heart transplant evaluation? Do insurance companies think a kid is going to get a heart transplant for fun or that it’s not potentially life threatening? Please explain!

There are three types of people at work: co-workers, colleagues, and friends. They are not all the same. Triage appropriately, don’t overshare, and not everyone deserves to be your friend.

Transplant surgery saved my life 5 years ago. Today, I chair AST’s Transplant Community Advisory Council and work as an intensivist & OPO med director. This gift 🫀 means the world to me. #ATC2024philly

It’s been fantastic to form a community with this amazing group of #DocsWithTransplants and to see that we’re not alone! Pictured are just a handful of the ones who also work in transplant, but our group includes the full range of specialties, types of careers, and organs!

Pediatric Fellowship Graduation: Cardiology Fellows: They worked so hard during their time. One was even on call last night. Every other fellow: They’re an amazing person outside of work. They even had 20 publications.

Let me let you in on a little secret about 1990s nostalgia: you don't miss Blockbuster or dine-in Pizza Hut. You miss analog life with other people who weren't distracted and were really present to enjoy mundane moments with you.
