How can memories persist in the brain when their properties and supporting biological substrates change over time and experiences? Our latest work newly published in Science Magazine proposes that a balance between memory dynamics and persistence is achieved through the

(1) The modern classroom has become a crucible where our primordial approach-avoidance instincts—once critical for day-to-day survival—are inappropriately triggered by academic challenges, particularly in mathematics. Instead of running away from woolly mammoths and saber-tooth

You might think 90s hacker movies are unrealistic with all the rapid typing and windows popping up, but us AFNI users know it well - from whenever AFNI randomly decides that some background program doesn't meet its requirements anymore

New Preprint!🚨A really fun project because it (i) had a cool design and interesting results, and (ii) involved working with Emiko Muraki and Penny Pexman! Emiko led this work and was funded by Mitacs and Bangor Imaging Unit to scan in our world class imaging centre at Bangor Psychology

There are now papers showing that the migration of academic communities from Twitter to other social media sites mostly failed. But they never fully returned to Twitter either. I wonder if we will ever see so many different communities interacting in the same online space again.

Hugely excited that this work with Martin Hebart and Chris Baker is now out in Nature Human Behaviour !!! By moving from a category-focused to a behaviour-focused model, we identified behaviourally relevant object information throughout visual cortex. nature.com/articles/s4156…

Don't be so fast to jump to resting state if you're interested in cognition. We need task-based connectivity approaches (often with multivariate techniques) to understand cognitive functioning in the brain. Here's a brief opinion piece on why: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

A 10-minute talk should have 10 slides. Trainee logic: Gotcha, I'll stick to that. PI logic: I hear you, but I'm pretty sure I can get through these 25 slides. 🤦🏻‍♀️ #CheckYourself
