Today, standing next to my patient as they’re coding and receiving chest compressions to no avail in the ICU, and hearing the announcement of “time of death” is a feeling I’m not going to forget. Gonna need some time to process this one

Honestly, so grateful that I’m starting fourth year on my ICU rotation. In this first week, I feel like I’ve learned to manage patients more than I have on some of my other rotations and have taken full ownership of my patients. Also goals of care meetings = SO IMPORTANT

Went on a little field trip today and drove to my patient’s house to help him pick up his property taxes and documents so that he wouldn’t get a penalty for filing late while he was in the ICU. It’s the little things. ☺️
