This little chest has been sitting quietly in Haconby church in Lincolnshire since the mid-fourteenth century. It is an exquisite example of medieval carved workmanship decorated with traceried panels and dragons.

Hanging about with some other old friends Norwich Cathedral Post medieval initials in all their forms are invariably the most common type of graffiti recorded on any historic monument.

We've had masses of visitors today, and a great dig atmosphere throughout - the volunteers from Wings to the Past and #OperationNightingale all seem to have really enjoyed it, which is great

Glad I got to Bakewell's Weir Bridge before 8am. I've got 40,000 love-locks to record before the council remove them. It's gonna be a long day

I've expanded the evidence for pseudo #heraldry in my 2022 paper on historic church #graffiti and #medieval personal seals and it's available on my academia page (link in bio) 🙂

A little over a week to go before this lecture on medieval graffiti in #Bristol. Why not join us and discover the hidden histories of the medieval church. We may even touch upon the story of a Tudor #Banksy !

Hanging around in arguably the finest parish church in England preparing for this evening's lecture. St Mary's Redcliffe, Bristol. And yes, it's raining. It's Bristol.

Hey Tweeps, could you please repost, I’m trying to both raise £ for the museum & earn a living from these courses. This broken platform has only got 10 likes today. I need to fill the session on Sunday 22/9 to make it pay. Learning an ancient skill has to be a great last minute

An exceptionally rare survival. An external consecration cross on the tower buttress at Wethersingsett church, Suffolk. Surviving internal crosses are rare. External crosses even more so. medieval-graffiti.co.uk/page102.html

Medieval Graffiti NW Historic Graffiti Coincidentally, I found this pair around the doorway of St John the Baptist, Tideswell, Derbyshire, the other day. Unusual shape. The church - The Cathedral of the Peak - is truly wonderful, but seemingly graffiti free, barring the alleged de Bower monument. Well worth a visit.
