The incredible Fumiko Ladd Chino, MD, FASCO sharing perspectives on combating financial toxicity in cancer care! ๐๐ป UNC School of Medicine
We were honored to host Dr. Fumiko Ladd Chino, MD, FASCO to UNC for our 55th Annual Student Research Day - thank you to everyone who contributed to making this day a great success! UNC School of Medicine Brian Wood
YES, we need to remove barriers to #permanentcontraception but NOT just because of #Dobbs. Tying #abortion restrictions to #sterilization is problematic and coercive. Madeline Thornton and I argue we must do better - on both ends. #ReproJustice sciencedirect.com/science/articlโฆ
I cannot emphasize how important this development is. Black women are more likely to present at younger ages, with more aggressive disease, & at later stage. Now we have a chance to catch these deadly cancers before it's too late ASBrS American Cancer Society: cnn.com/2023/05/09/heaโฆ.
Also want to put in a plug for EARLY risk assessment, ie no later than 25 with your pcp or gyn. Rec to begin at 40 is for women at AVERAGE risk. If you are at high risk for breast cancer, you may need to start sooner. Christine Edmonds, MD Kathie Joseph, MD, MPH advocated for this recently:
I contributed to this piece w/ several other experts in reproductive health. This poorly written bill will worsen health outcomes for North Carolinians. Republicans should be held accountable for pushing this bill through without open debate. #SB20 #ncpol ncnewsline.com/2023/05/09/uncโฆ
