NNDSB is aware of bomb threats that have closed schools in some parts of Northern Ontario. NBPS and OPP are aware and currently there are no threats to schools in our district. Should the situation change, under direction of our police partners, we will notify families.

November 5 - 11 is Veterans' Week. NNDSB students and staff will be honouring and learning about the courage, commitment and sacrifice of Canadian military veterans all week long.

Indigenous Veterans Day honours the contributions and sacrifice of First Nation, Inuit and Métis people in military service. An estimated 12,000 Indigenous people have served in every conflict Canada has been involved in.

NNDSB schools will be acknowledging Remembrance Day today while we are all together. Students and staff will engage in ceremonies and lessons honouring the sacrifice of all those who served in Canadian conflicts.

School Bussing is cancelled this morning in both the entire West Parry Sound region and the East Parry Sound region south of Hwy 522.

West Ferris Secondary School is currently in a lockdown. Police are on site. For their safety, do not call or text your child. Do not call or attend the school. Communication will be sent once lockdown is lifted. If updates are available, they will be posted to board social media

Update: the WFSS lockdown has now been lifted. Students and staff are safe and will return to regular school schedule. A letter to families will be issued later today.
