I am an alumni and former staff member at Victoria University. I'm extremely disappointed in VU's approach to this - instead of punishing staff, I call on VU to come to terms on an Agreement which values, supports and respects VU staff.

Ridiculous response by Victoria University: denying union members a full day's pay in retaliation for work bans. It's excessive & totally disproportionate. Federal IR laws should be fixed to close this employer loophole that has also been used against IEU members Senator Murray Watt

This is exactly why an urgent federal parliamentary inquiry is needed into university wage theft.

Reminder that University of Canberra's VC received $1.78m in remuneration last year, and spent an extra $9.5m on consultants in 2023 (more than double 2022). Now UC's governance issues have the potential to threaten courses, jobs, and the institution itself.
