Uber and Lyft drivers are organizing in a massive way, and today in NYC they're exercising their power and showing these massive, exploitative companies they're a force to be reckoned with.

Taxi Workers are the backbone of New York. Lockout policies are deeply harming our Bangladeshi communities from surviving in New York. Lockout policies not only harm Bangladeshi workers but also create dangerous precedent standards for worker protection.

Thousands of Uber and Lyft drivers marched in NYC today, demanding an end to wage theft and Mayor Adams's policies that enable it. The companies evade fair pay through "lockouts" — a scheme preventing workers from being paid for hours worked between rides.

Yesterday, over 2,000 Uber & Lyft drivers rallied at City Hall to demand an end to the companies' devastating lockouts. "With the lockout, it became almost impossible to pay all of my expenses." Jonah Gil, a NY Taxi Workers member, is one of thousands of Uber and Lyft drivers locked out of their livelihood. Mayor Adams needs to start siding with workers like Jonah.

Without the drivers, Uber and Lyft cannot make their profits. Yet in retaliation for having to pay drivers a minimum wage, the platforms have decided to engage in mass lockouts. I joined the drivers outside City Hall. They are ready to strike! ✊🏼
