In honor of #BlackFriday, just a week away, we salute the Black Swallowtail, a frequent visitor to our green roof assemblies. This autumn we’ve noticed them nectaring heavily on Silene armeria, Sweet William Catchfly. We include this European catchfly in our #OmniMeadow seed mix.

#Winter is here in #Chicago! Light snow and freezing temps have pushed most of our rooftop plant species into dormancy. We prefer to leave meadow foliage intact through the winter to offer habitat for #wildlife. We also love the plant forms highlighted by snow on an #OmniMeadow

Purple Prairie Clover is a native species that thrives on hot #GreenRoofs. It fixes nitrogen, offers nectar and pollen for insects, and is a host plant for butterflies. It's gorgeous when blooming. We harvest and distribute Dalea as part of our #OmniMeadow mix.
