A couple of days ago, a very important member of the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering got married! Here is a pic of the bride, Joanne Wang, taken at the event. She is with Profs. Carlos Silvera Batista and Julie Vernon, and their two kids.

PHILIPPE FAUCHET WINE/BEER ADVICE VAULT French champagne maker Chandon was the first to expand to California in 1973. I was fortunate to have access to several of their special bottles including this stunning Mt Vernon Terroir bottle. Like a real champagne & austere in a good way

PHILIPPE FAUCHET WINE/BEER ADVICE VAULT Chateau de Lamarque 2019 is a Haut Medoc (i.e., Bordeaux left bank) that is a full-bodied, classic blend available for around $25. You may want to use a decanter before serving it. We liked it, so try it!!

PHILIPPE FAUCHET WINE/BEER ADVICE VAULT Some have said "you only write about wines you liked, what about those you did not?" Liking a wine is rather subjective and personal, but here is highly rated Petit Chablis I did not care for, especially for ~ $30. Not crisp enough for me.

Wegmans, from Rochester NY & privately owned, is the best grocery store in the US, by far! Today, we visited Greys Fine Cheeses at the Factory, an amazing, revitalized store & food complex in Franklin, TN. Great cheese and wine pairing and we saw this! wegmans.com

PHILIPPE FAUCHET WINE/BEER ADVICE VAULT This outstanding DOUBLE BLACK Paso Robles red blend from California retails below $15, yet it tastes like a much more expensive wine. This is a very easy to drink full bodied wine - some oak & lots of dark fruit flavor and spice. I like it!

Late summer means it's time to make and enjoy a delicious tomato tart! Yesterday we made this beauty following Ina Garten's recipe. Marinated Farmer's Market tomatoes, basil, parsley, thyme, garlic, gruyere, etc. It was absolutely delicious!!

PHILIPPE FAUCHET WINE/BEER ADVICE VAULT Today, I am writing about a beer. La Fin du Monde (literally The End of the World) is brewed in Quebec by Unibroue. It is a refined-tasting golden triple with notes of fruit & spice, and the right amount of hoppiness and bitterness. Try it!
