It was great to see a bit of interaction between an adult and juvenile Kingfisher at RSPB Lakenheath Fen today
Please note- we will be locking our roadside gate tonight (3-4 August) between 10pm and 6am, as it is our Big Wild Sleepout. Thank you 🐸 RSPB Birders RSPB Lakenheath Fen RSPB England RSPB

A few Sand Martins have just been spotted flying over Brandon Fen (15/8) hunting for insects. Great White Egret numbers are also building on the Washland too, with 14 on some days recently. RSPB Birders RSPB Lakenheath Fen RSPB England RSPB

Thanks for sharing Prof W. If you try to spot the elusive Garganey- this is the plumage you are looking for- it appears to be a male emerging from the 'eclipse' phase! RSPB Birders RSPB England RSPB RSPB Lakenheath Fen
As if they heard us celebrating Wicken Fen success, a flock of 10 cranes have flown over WWT Welney at 10.20am this morning 😍 Bigger, better more connected wetlands = thriving wetland species big and small 🙌 Ajay Tegala National Trust in the East WWT 📷 Kim Tarsey
Although the picture definitely won’t win any rewards, it’s always nice to see a Wasp Spider RSPB Lakenheath Fen, still quite a novelty in these parts!
We currently have a juvenile Black Tern flying over the Washland. If you haven't seen one before, look for a pale greyish small tern (they're not black like the adults!) Thanks to Paul Holness for spotting it. RSPB Birders RSPB Lakenheath Fen RSPB England RSPB
