Pro Farmer U.S. yield estimates (use data from #pftour24 plus other factors like weather): #Corn 181.1 bu/acre (-1.1% from USDA’s 183.1) #Soybeans 54.9 bu/acre (+3.2% from USDA’s 53.2) PF did not make changes to area, so production estimates are the same +/- % from USDA as yield.

How about a trip back in time today? This jewel was taken when I was on sabbatic leave from Ohio State at Illinois during the 1993/94 academic year. I have now been at Illinois so long that many people do not realize that I spent 12 years in the ag econ department at Ohio State

1/ The Aug. 1 estimate released by the National Agricultural Statistics Service is for an Illinois #soybean #yield at average 66 bushels per acre. That would be a new record for #Illinois, 2 bushels higher than the 2021 yield, and 4.9 bushels higher than the 2024 trendline yield. farmdoc.illinois.edu/field-crop-pro…

2/ The 2024 #Illinois #soybean crop built its base for high #yields – good pod numbers and outstanding canopy color – by the end of July, especially in early-planted fields. farmdoc.illinois.edu/field-crop-pro…

3/3 A canopy like the #soybeans had by August this year is one of the best indicators of a good crop to come. It’s not certain that #yield will reach the 66 bushels per acre forecast, of course, but it certainly appears to have the potential to do so. farmdoc.illinois.edu/field-crop-pro…

🇺🇸Last week's export inspections for U.S. #wheat and #soybeans were at the top end of expectations, #corn was in the middle. With 2023/24 nearly complete for corn & soy, total insp. as of Aug 29 were +40% and -14% YOY, respectively. USDA's export targets are +35% and -14% YOY.

My #soybean yield model fell another 0.2 bushels per acre this week, while my #corn model rose 1.1 bpa. Both remain above trend, and yes, at record yields. #oatt

EXCLUSIVE: The largest privately-owned company in America faces leaner times. Cargill reported net income of $2.48 billions in its 2024 fiscal year — the lowest in nearly a decade, and less than half the record high it posted in FY2022. @Opinion #OATT bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

I will be surprised if the USDA Sep numbers are very far from these StoneX numbers. I think the respondents to the StoneX survey are pretty well informed by this point in the growing season. At least that is my perception.
