Thanks to White House Intergovernmental Affairs, Jeff Zients, NeeraTanden46, Secretary Denis McDonough and Shalanda Young for meeting with our delegation of nearly 50 mayors today to discuss the federal solutions we need to increase access to affordable housing.

Addressing the nation’s homelessness crisis takes all of us.   Thank you to the nearly 50 mayors who joined us in Washington this week to push for federal solutions to get Americans off the street and into permanent housing.

From gangs to domestic abuse to suicide, violence continues to intensify in #Scranton and across PA. It’s past time for the PA legislature to act. I joined CeaseFirePA on Tuesday to call on legislators to pass common sense gun legislation and prevent more senseless death.

It’s a very sad day in Scranton as we recognize the passing of the beloved Mayor Connors. Mayor Connors cherished Scranton and cared passionately about the wellbeing of our residents.

Jimmy never stopped being mayor – he continued to be a warm, jovial, comforting presence at public events and was a source of wisdom for me personally.

He’ll live on in Scranton as "the Mayor" and we will deeply miss him. Our hearts are with his wife, Susie, his children, and his entire family.

Thank you to the Scranton Municipal Recreation Authority, our veterans organizations, the Ringgold Pops Orchestra, and our local Boy Scouts for another wonderful Independence Day celebration at Nay Aug Park.

Political violence should never happen in our country or any other. We will keep former President Trump and his family in our thoughts and hope he has a quick and full recovery.

This is a moment where all of us have a responsibility to take down the temperature, rise above the hateful rhetoric that exists, and search for a better, brighter future for this nation. I ask that you join Lori and me in prayer for the two Pennsylvanians still in critical
