Women's orgs are the unsung heroes of Ukraine’s humanitarian response post-Russia's invasion in Feb 22. But 2 years in, though the people of Ukraine have shown tremendous resiliency, humanitarian funding has not.

This past week, we've highlighted key insights from “Still Waiting for the Sky to Close: Women’s Organizations at the Ukrainian Frontline Two Years On” in collaboration with @hiasrefugees. A must-read on the ongoing crisis. voiceamplified.org/still-waiting-…

Key findings? A dire lack of funding is threatening essential services for displaced women, per a survey of 78 organizations across Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, & Romania. Over 50% face a critical resource shortage. We must act now.

VOICE calls for action: -Boost housing and livelihood support for displaced women/girls -Expand GBV prevention/support services -Strengthen local women’s orgs -Invest in multi-year funding -Cut red tape -Enhance access to funds & decision-making for women’s orgs

Moreover, we need to: Provide better access to humanitarian funding and decision-making spaces for women’s rights orgs. The Ukraine Regional Refugee Response Plan needs $42M for women-led orgs in 2024.

These organizations have shown incredible resilience,” says Marsh from VOICE. It's time funders matched this resilience with necessary resources and respect. Let’s not let the situation for displaced women and children deteriorate.
