#NeonatalEncephalopathy (cough HIE) was the SECOND neuro contributor to health loss GLOBALLY in 2021. THANK YOU to those tackling HIE in #NeoTwitter & #NeuroTwitter. Not enough of you exist, but the ones that do are total badasses & I'm so SO grateful you're doing this work.

This one is JUST for #NICU clinicians! We get SO many questions about the best ways to communicate & connect HIE families in the NICU... Haley is going to tackle all of this next week. Be sure to pass along to your colleagues in #NeoTwitter & #NeuroTwitter!

Our support community has eclipsed another transformative milestone -- we're now connecting and supporting over 10,000 families worldwide through our comprehensive programs and services. While this may seem like a lot, and especially if you've been around since the beginning,

So fun to work on a review of my favorite topic with 2 of my favorite collaborators Cara Slagle, MD and Michelle Starr MD MPH . Caring for babies with kidney failure is evolving rapidly. This review brings data together and provides practical solutions. Neonatal Kidney Collaborative (NKC) UAB Department of Pediatrics ChildrensAL

How to mitigate time-dependent creatinine pattern in neonates to detect and quantify nephrotoxicity ? We suggest to go for a Z score approach (compare to reference values), and illustrated its feasibility with data on ibuprofen exposed cases ! Open access, link.springer.com/article/10.100…

In the new KDIGO 2024 Clinical Practice Guideline for CKD, they state, "People who are born preterm, especially if also small for gestational age, are at increased risk for CKD and kidney failure. This is largely related to decreased nephron number." 👏👏👏Neonatal Kidney Collaborative (NKC)

Excited to share that our study on long-term outcomes after pediatric AKI (not treated with dialysis) was just published in JASN_News. Childhood AKI survivors were at >2x higher risk of long-term CKD, kidney failure, hypertension, and subsequent AKI. journals.lww.com/jasn/abstract/…

Detecting a drop in UOP is incredibly important in neonates at risk for AKI - hear we see data looking at those who undergo CBP surgery. If you don’t look you won’t find! Neonatal Kidney Collaborative (NKC)

As we get ready for #INNS this week, we are excited to announce that we are recruiting sites for AWAKEN 2.0!! This is a multicenter, multinational study of high-risk neonates + kidney outcomes. Study is sponsored by RINK/Neonatal Kidney Collaborative (NKC) but also we are excited to expand beyond!
