Yoshinobu Yamamoto struck out the side on 15 pitches, hit 98 mph and looked sharp in his first inning off the IL. Was all fastballs, curveballs and splitters.

Yamamoto wound up striking out five of the first six batters he faced, but the Cubs pushed one across when Freddie Freeman couldn't handle Pete Crow-Armstrong's hard-hit chopper. 1-0 Cubs.

Tommy Edman has his first home run as a Dodger, and this game is tied. It's 1-1.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto has struck out eight through three innings tonight, including striking out the side again in the third.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto went back out for the fourth, gave up a hit and got a double play to get out of it. He's through four innings at 59 pitches. Dave Roberts said they were aiming for 55-60 pregame. All in all, an encouraging night for Yamamoto.

Tommy Edman has his second home run as a Dodger, and second tonight. The Dodgers lead, 2-1.

Max Muncy crushed a ball. His second homer off a lefty this week. 3-1 Dodgers.

This game is tied. Seiya Suzuki singled up the middle for to bring home a run, then Tommy Edman's throw back into the infield gets past Max Muncy (looked like he thought Miguel Rojas was cutting it off?) and rolls into the dugout because no one was backing up. It's 3-3.

What a disastrous inning.

Pete Crow-Armstrong can play the heck out of center. The Dodgers lost, 6-3. They are 86-59. The division lead is 4.5 games. An absolutely disastrous eighth inning defensively did them in, spoiling an encouraging return off the IL for Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Time of game: 2:36.

Dave Roberts said Anthony Banda has a hairline fracture in his left hand. Hit it against “a solid object” in frustration after his outing last night. Banda’s hand was wrapped postgame. Roberts didn’t have a timetable for return.
